Thiruvaadirai kali


Ingredients: Raw rice – 1/4 kg, jaggery – 1/2 kg, cardomoms – 6, cashewnuts – 10, ghee – 100 g, grated coconut – 1 cup Roast the rice in a dry pan until it becomes golden red. Dissolve the jaggery in 1/2 litre water.  Roast the cashews, cardomom, coconut, in ghee and pour into the jaggery water. Heat the mixture until it boils. Now add the rice powder and stir well once. Keep this in a pressure cooker and steam fully.

  1. Comment:The roasted rice should be ground to powder.(This step is missed in this recipe)

    Suggestion: The powder should be little coarser rather than fine powder.So it is better to ground in mixie than in a flour mill(when preparing more than 1kg)
